Checklist to Review Your Site
You should see the same sites with the same access as in the live Cascade Server CMS. However, publishing has been disabled for safety and security reasons. The current Cascade CMS version is 7.14.2 but for simplicity’s sake, “Cascade 7” will be used below.
Verify that you can successfully perform all of the following functions in each of your sites.
Log In: You should be able to log in with your MSU credentials and the Test Server URL provided. The Cascade 8 Dashboard should display.
Settings: In the upper right corner, expand the dropdown menu to the right of your first initial and select Settings.
Under Appearance of Asset Links, the default is to display Title or Display Name in the left Asset Tree. Uncheck this option if you’d like to see System Name in the Asset Tree (i.e. the setting in Cascade 7).
Select a site: Expand the dropdown menu for “SITE: Go to a Site” (upper left) and select a site. You should see all the sites to which you have access in the Cascade 7 CMS.
View the left Asset Tree and verify that it looks correct and complete.
Click on an image name and verify that it displays properly in the main content area.
View Home page: Select the site’s home page in the left Asset Tree. The page should display in the main content area. Verify that it looks correct and that images display properly. Verify the navigation. Hover over different areas of the page. A box displays around the content area and the content Region names display in upper right of the content box.
View other pages: Select other pages from the navigation or click on internal links. Verify that the pages display correctly. Hover over different areas of the page and view the content Region names.
Edit page: Select a page from the left Asset Tree. Hover over the page to view the different content Regions. Click the EDIT button (upper right), locate the content to change and make your changes. When finished click SAVE & PREVIEW (upper right). You are viewing a draft – to permanently save changes to the current version of the page, click SUBMIT or DISCARD DRAFT without saving any changes.
Create a new page: Click Add Content button (red + on Cascade menu). Select a new page type (this will vary by site). The page types may be listed individually or you may have to click “Pages” or other link to see the page types. Select a basic content page. Enter content information – this is very similar to using Cascade 7. You’ll see the Content and Metadata panes. The Outputs pane in Cascade 7 is now Configure in Cascade 8. When finished click SAVE & PREVIEW (upper right). You are viewing a draft – to permanently save the new page, click SUBMIT or DISCARD DRAFT without saving the new page.
